TSN. Marqise Lee Jaguars Jersey .cas NHL Play of the Year showdown continues today with an exhibition in puck possession and sharp-angle shooting. The eighth match-up of the Round of 32 sees perennial POY candidate Patrick Kane square off against one of the breakthrough players of the 2013-14 campaign: Detroit Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist. Kanes ability to operate at top speed never ceases to amaze and he torches a very good Colorado Avalanche team with it. He comes streaking down the right wing and with one quick move of his hands leaves Jan Hejda completely out of position. Kane absolutely freezes Hejda, leaving a sharp but clear path to the net. His backhand comes nearly from the goal line but still rockets top shelf over Semyon Varlamovs shoulder. Known for his modesty, Kane asks the Denver faithful what they think of his goal in the celebration. Nyquist, meanwhile, shakes off a near-mugging to pot a beauty. The young Swede breaks in one-on-one against Matt Carle and the Lightning defender appears initially to do enough to prevent a goal, drawing a penalty in the process. However, Nyquist shakes Carles grip and pounces on the puck he just lost. From behind the goal line, he still has the presence of mind to corral the puck and toss it under a recovering Ben Bishop. The Giants chances of winning the division were dealt a serious blow by the three-game sweep at the hands of the lowly Padres. The Giants open a three-game series at Dodger Stadium on Monday night. San Francisco is still in good shape to clinch a wild-card berth, although it dropped into a tie with Pittsburgh in the race for the top spot.Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians named Ryan Lindley the starting quarterback for Sundays critical game against the Seattle Seahawks. Lindley replaced Drew Stanton in last Thursday nights game against St. Louis, completing 4-of-10 passes for 30 yards. Stanton was injured while being sacked in the 12-6 win over the Rams and is expected to miss 3-too-4 weeks with reportedly two partially torn knee ligaments. Chris Conley Jersey. Lindley has started four games in his NFL career, all with the Cardinals during the 2012 season. Arians also said there would be a package of plays for rookie quarterback Logan Thomas. The Cardinals, who have clinched a playoff spot, are one game ahead of the Seahawks in the NFC West. ' ' '
WASHINGTON -- Julio Teheran allowed two runs in seven solid innings and had two hits, and Atlanta knocked out Stephen Strasburg in the fifth inning, as the Braves beat the Washington Nationals 6-2 on Saturday night. Marvin Jones Jr Womens Jersey . Dan Uggla had a two-run single for the Braves and Freddie Freeman reached base five times with two hits and three walks. Teheran (1-1) limited Washington to three hits, including a two-run home run by Adam LaRoche. The Braves right-hander was aided by a spectacular throw by B.J. Upton, who caught a liner to medium centre by Bryce Harper and threw out Jose Lobaton at the plate for an inning-ending double play in the fifth. Strasburg (0-1) allowed eight hits, three walks and three earned runs in 4 1-3 innings. Teheran walked four and hit a batter, but he compensated with six timely strikeouts and two solid singles to right field, the first of which drove in the tying run with two out in the bottom of the fourth inning and contributed to the early exit for Strasburg) It was the second shaky outing of the year for the Nationals right-hander. Strasburg allowed a pair of home runs in a no-decision in Washingtons 9-7 opening day victory over the Mets. Against the Braves, Strasburg had a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning, but third baseman Ryan Zimmermans two-out, two-run throwing error paved the way for two unearned runs. In the next inning, Strasburg was sent to the dugout after allowing a walk and four straight singles. The hits were supplied by Chris Johnson, Justin Upton, Uggla, and Ryan Doumit. Andrelton Simmons brought home the final run with a sacrifice fly off reliever Aaron Barrett. Notes: In the final game of the series on Sunday, Braves lefty Alex Wood (1-0, 1.29 ERA) will oppose Nationals right-hander Taylor Jordan, who gets his first start of the season. . Nationals P Doug Fister, who is out with a lat strain, may get some throwing in on Sunday for the first time since he was placed on the 15-day disabled list on March 29. "Through exercise he feels pretty good," manager Matt Williams said. "The test is going to be throwing and extending in a controlled environment." ... Illness is going around both clubhouses. Braves C Evan Gattis, who homered on Friday, was out with flu-like symptoms, but was available to pinch hit. Nationals P Gio Gonzalez is battling illness. His next start is set for Tuesday against the Marlins. .. Wood is the first left-hander the Nationals will face this year. Kerryon Johnson Womens Jersey .What they got was a bevy of players chipping in to pick up the slack.Josh Smith scored 18 points and James Harden added 17 as the Rockets used a balanced scoring effort to outlast the Mavericks for a 99-94 victory. Jahlani Tavai Youth Jersey . Kozun faked to the forehand and beat Monsters starter, Calvin Pickard, pad side in the second round for the winner. Spencer Abbott also scored in the shootout for the Marlies (25-13-4). Drew MacIntyre stopped all four shooters he faced in the shootout and turned aside 28 shots for his 20th win of the season. Pickard made 28 saves in the loss. Stuart Percy and Jamie Devane scored in regulation for the Marlie to force overtime. Andrew Agozzino and Cam Reid had the goals for the Monsters (17-20-3). The loss was Lake Eries eighth straight loss. The Toronto win evened the season series at two games apiece. Lake Erie opened a 2-0 lead with goals five minutes apart in the first period. Agozzino opened the scoring at 10:09 of the first, on a power play, re-directing a Karl Stollery point shot passt MacIntyre for his 10th of the season. T.J. Hockenson Lions Jersey. Then at 15:06, Reid gave the Monsters a 2-0 lead tipping a bouncing puck past MacIntyre for his second of the season. Toronto cut Lake Eries lead in half at 18:12 of the first when Percy stepped into a shot off a face-off beating Pickard for his first of the season. Devane completed the comeback after getting his stick on a T.J. Brennan point shot, re-directing it past Pickard at 2:52 of the third. Sam Carrick had an excellent chance to give Toronto their first lead, on a power play, with 5:30 remaining, but Pickard got across with his shoulder to rob him of the chance The Marlies now head out on the road for three games in three nights beginning Thursday in Oklahoma City. NOTES: Lake Erie forward Guillaume Desbiens missed Sundays game serving a one-game suspension for instigating a fight in the final five minutes of the Monsters 6-2 loss to Hamilton Saturday night. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Cesc Fabregas Chelsea Jersey . - The rebuilding Jacksonville Jaguars are hoping to get several instant starters in the NFL draft. They could be at just about any position — except quarterback. Although owner Shad Khan said the team would draft as many as two signal callers, general manager Dave Caldwell made it clear that none of the quarterbacks in this years draft is ready to step in and play right away. Not even for Jacksonville, which already has made Chad Henne the starter for 2014. "I think the majority of this (quarterback) class has a ways to go," Caldwell said. The Jaguars have the third overall pick in Thursday nights first round — selecting in the top 10 for the seventh consecutive year — and 10 choices thereafter. With a roster still being overhauled after winning just six games over the last two seasons, Jacksonville would prefer to trade down from No. 3 and garner even more picks. If not, the team likely will address an area of need, possibly selecting versatile Buffalo linebacker/defensive end Khalil Mack or dynamic Clemson receiver Sammy Watkins. Jacksonville signed Seattle defensive ends Chris Clemons and Red Bryant in free agency, and re-signed defensive end Jason Babin, but all of them are at least 30 years old. Mack would fit perfectly in Jacksonvilles hybrid Leo position and give second-year head coach Gus Bradley a young pass rusher to potentially become the centerpiece of his defence. Watkins would provide one of the leagues worst offences a big-time playmaker and help offset the loss of suspended receiver Justin Blackmon. Caldwell said last week he would be surprised if Blackmon, suspended indefinitely for repeated violations of the leagues substance-abuse policy, played next season. The Jaguars are likely to address the quarterback position in later rounds, possibly 39th overall. Caldwell, Bradley and offensive co-ordinator Jedd Fisch had a private workout with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, opting to take a second look at Louisvilles star after his oft-criticized pro day. "We just wanted to make sure on what we were seeing and compare that to tape," Caldwell said. "His (pro day) was a very strict workout and wasnt tailored to what our offence would be, so we did a workout similar to our offence. "I dont know many years where theres a lot that come out and are definitely ready," Caldwell said of the QBs. "Andrew Luck came out and he was ready. Matt Ryan, when Matt came up, he was truly ready and he proved he was. But to say were going to get this guy in and hes going to be ready to go doesnt happen that often." Aside from the quarterback quandary, here are five things to know about Jacksonvilles draft: TRADE TALK: Caldwell said two teams have called to talk about potentially trading for the No. 3 pick. He declined to identify the teams, but said hes more likely to find a trade partner if Houston and St. Louis pick from the top two spots. He didnt rule out Jacksonville moving up, even in the first round. "If somebody we really want is there, we will go after him," Caldwell said. DRAFTING NEEDS: If any team could preach drafting "best player available" in every round, it would be Jacksonville, which has numerous holes. But Bradley acknowledges the draft is more about filling needs. "Is it really best available?" he said. "We say best available, but is it? No, need obviously plays into it. I think its best available if someones there and its like, Are you kidding me? Hes here? Then you have those conversations of, Weve got to take this guy." OBVIOUS HOLES: There are at least two offensive positions the Jaguars are sure to draft, aside from quarterback: centre and receiver. Veteran centre Brad Meester retired after 14 years in Jacksonville, and the team doesnt anticipate having Blackmon next season. Jacksonville signed Pro Bowl centre Alex Mack to an offer sheet, but Cleveland matched the five-year, $42 million deal. ANOTHER OT? After drafting Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel with the No. 2 overall pick last year, could Jacksonville go in the same direction? With Auburns Greg Robinson, Michigans Taylor Lewan and Texas A&Ms Jake Matthews all projected as top 10 picks, the Jaguars are at least trying to make it appear they are interested in adding another offensive tackle at No. 3. "That would be a big step for us in getting better on the offensive line," Bradley said. OFF THE BOARD: The Jaguars have taken 36 players off their draft board because of injury or character concerns. Ruben Loftus-Cheek Chelsea Jersey . Despite 11-1 records, theyre out and Big Ten winner Ohio State is into the national semifinals. Marcos Alonso Chelsea Jersey . The Austrian ski federation said Morgenstern was "conscious and well responsive" and his condition would be monitored in the intensive care unit of a Salzburg hospital for the next 72 hours. The federation said it was "way too early" to judge Morgensterns chances of competing in Sochi, and that an update on his condition was not expected before Monday.SALT LAKE CITY -- Gordon Hayward had 17 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to lead a balanced Utah Jazz offence in a 109-86 win over the slumping Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night. Richard Jefferson scored 17 points and Diante Garrett had a career-high 15 points as the Jazz had seven players with 10 points or more in Utahs largest margin of victory this season. The Jazz shot 57.5 per cent from the field, the highest mark of any Phoenix opponent this season. Gerald Green had 17 points and rookie Archie Goodwin matched his career-best with 16 for the Suns. Playing their only road game in a nine-game stretch, the Suns have been looking to improve their playoff position. However, with a third straight loss, Phoenix leads Memphis by just one-half game the eighth and final Western Conference berth. Hayward, mired in a shooting slump (31 per cent in his previous 13 games), made plays all over the court in this one. Some fans chanted to put Hayward back in the game to get his first-ever triple-double. He just smiled as he watched the Jazz play the last 6:15 of the runaway win. Goran Dragic did not dress due to a sprained ankle and the Suns missed his playmaking abilities. Dragic twisted his right ankle in the third quarter in a loss to Minnesota on Tuesday and will have the injury re-evaluated on Thursday. Ish Smith had 13 points and five assists but the Jazz didnt respect his outside shooting and the defence wasnt spread like it would have been with Dragic. The Suns were 6 of 19 on 3-pointers. The Jazz turned a five-point lead into a 72-57 advantage thanks a 12-2 run and aa 5:08 stretch where they held the Suns without a field goal. Willian Jersey. The Jazz broke it open in the fourth quarter as Garrett showed the skills he wished the Suns could have seen last season. Garrett was a late pickup for the Jazz this season after playing 19 games for Phoenix in 2012-13. Garrett had 11 points in the first five minutes of the fourth period to push the Jazz lead to 95-73. Derrick Favours scored 15 points in his second game back from a hip injury and Alec Burks scored 15 and Jeremy Evans had 11 in reserve roles. The Jazz outscored the Suns 50-36 in the paint and were equally adept from beyond the arc, making 9 of 18 attempts. After allowing a 35-point fourth quarter against the Timberwolves on Tuesday, the Suns defence was again porous against the Jazz. Utah players often beat their Phoenix counterparts down the courts and were one step quicker to the hoop on drives. Though the Jazz are buried near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, the starting lineup of Jefferson, Marvin Williams, Favors, Hayward and Trey Burke improved to 18-9 on the season. NOTES: Morris got a technical in the third quarter for yelling at official Zach Zarba after he was called for a foul on Jeffersons attempted dunk. ... The Suns largest lead was one point. ... The Jazz outscored the Suns in every quarter. ... Utahs previous biggest win this season was in a 122-101 victory at Sacramento on Dec. 11. ... Phoenix coach Jeff Hornacek played for the Jazz from 1994-2000 and served as an assistant coach with Utah from 2011-13. His No. 14 jersey number hangs in the rafters. ' ' '
DAVIE, Fla. Jaylon Ferguson Jersey . -- In the stadium program sold at the Miami Dolphins game on Halloween, Richie Incognito was asked whos the easiest teammate to scare. His answer: Jonathan Martin. The troubled, troubling relationship between the two offensive linemen took an ominous turn Monday with fresh revelations: Incognito sent text messages to his teammate that were racist and threatening, two people familiar with the situation said. The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins and NFL havent disclosed the nature of the misconduct that led to Sundays suspension of Incognito, a veteran with a reputation for dirty play. Martin, a tackle, remained absent from practice Monday one week after he suddenly left the team because of emotional issues. Also missing was Incognito, a guard suspended indefinitely late Sunday by coach Joe Philbin for his treatment of Martin. Agents for the two players didnt respond to requests for comment. Martin is with his family in Los Angeles for counselling. The 319-pound Incognito, a ninth-year pro, is white. The 312-pound Martin, who is in his second NFL season, is black. For much of the season, theyve played side by side. The team and NFL continued their investigation into allegations by Martins representatives that he was bullied, and Philbin said Dolphins owner Stephen Ross asked Commissioner Roger Goodell for assistance. The NFL Players Association also planned to look into the matter. "Every decision Ive made, everything weve done in this facility has been done with one thing in mind," Philbin said. "Thats to help our players and our organization reach their full potential. Any type of conduct (or) behaviour that detracts from that objective is not acceptable and is not tolerated." Its unclear whether coaches or management had any inkling of harassment between the players before Martin left the team, and Philbin declined to answer a question about the locker-room culture. Recent rumblings of dissension have also included complaints by young players that theyre pressured to pay more than their share when team members socialize together. After beating Cincinnati in overtime Thursday, the Dolphins had three days off while the Martin story mushroomed. They returned to practice Monday and afterward found nearly 100 reporters and cameramen in their locker room. Teammates praised both Incognito and Martin and expressed regret regarding their absences, but said it was time to get on with business. "The only thing affecting us is we cant even get dressed," said receiver Mike Wallace as he surveyed the media throng. Wallace said he found Incognito to be intense but a good teammate. Newcomer Bryant McKinnie agreed. "When I got here, he was a guy who had everybody laughing and told jokes," said McKinnie, a tackle who joined the team two weeks ago. "I didnt really see the side being portrayed right now." Hazing of young players has a long history in sports, but Incognitos treatment of Martin raised questions about whether coaches or teammates should have intervened. "Its not a thin line. Its pretty obvious stuff that shouldnt be crossed," Tennessee Titans cornerback Jason McCourty said. "You would hope if stuff was getting out of hands, there were guys in the locker room who would step up and maybe nip it in the bud before it got out of control." Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett said he was glad the Dolphins took action against Incognito. "Especially when you try to bully a guy. Thats so classless," Dockett said. "His whole makeup is to play dirty and hurt guys. Everybody knows that. I just dont understand how he got away with it for so long. I think the NFL really needs to buckle down on it now, because its bigger than trying to hurt other guys. Youre trying to hurt guys on your team mentally, which sometimes can actually be worse than hurting someone physically." Philbin said he was unaware of hazing incidents that involved Incognito -- such as hacking into a teammates Facebook page -- shown on the HBO series "Hard Knocks," which chronicled the Dolphins training camp in 2012. Philbin said he never watched the program. "If the review shows that this is not a safe atmosphere, I will take whatever measures are necessary to ensure that it is," Philbin said. "I have that obligation to the players that I coach on a daily basis, and I will do that." Before being suspended, Incognito posted several tweets saying he wanted his name cleared. "Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth," Incognito tweeted, quoting Buddha. Incognito, whos in the final year of a $13 million, three-year contract, has long had a reputation of being among the NFLs dirtiest players. During his first four years, he led the league in penalties for unnecessary roughness, and the St. Louis Rams got fed up with his undisciplined play and released him during the 2009 season. "Theres certain people out there who are just punks, and he wants to be that kind of guy," former Seahawks and Lions defensive end Lawrence Jackson said Monday. "But because hes a lineman, he gets away with a lot of stuff that people dont see. ... Incognito is way worse than anybody I ever played against." However, there have been fewer such complaints since Incognito joined the Dolphins in 2010. Last year he was voted by the leagues players into the Pro Bowl for the first time. He was the co-winner of the Dolphins Good Guy Award, given to the teams most co-operative player by the local media. He also won frequent praise from Dolphins coaches for his leadership, and this year he was voted by teammates to serve as a member of the Dolphins player council. At Nebraska, Incognitos career was cut short when he was suspended in 2004 before his junior season following a locker room altercation with a teammate. He also ran into problems with the law while with the Cornhuskers, and they said he repeatedly violated team rules. Martin protected Andrew Lucks blind side at Stanford before joining Miami as a second-round draft pick in 2012. He has been a starter since the beginning of his rookie season, but has struggled while dividing his time between left and right tackle. Stanford coach David Shaw said people at the school had been in touch with Martin. "Im a Jonathan Martin fan, so my interest is just in him getting back to the point where he gets a chance to play this game that he loves again," Shaw said. "By all accounts hes doing well. Not sure if hes going to rejoin the team this year, or when he is, but I know hes going to get himself back ready to play the game." For the first six games this year, Incognito and Martin were the two players protecting Ryan Tannehills blind side. Their troubled relationship may help explain his NFL-high 35 sacks. Mark Andrews Ravens Jersey . WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- South Africas Sharks and defending champions the Chiefs remained the only unbeaten teams in Super Rugby after a fifth round which featured a storm of yellow cards and cliff-hanger endings. Jan Vertonghen Belgium Jersey . The Durban-based Sharks withstood a furious second-half fightback to beat the Queensland Reds 35-20 for a fourth straight win which gave them a five-point lead atop the championship table. The Hamilton-based Chiefs scored two late tries to beat the Cape Town-based Stormers 36-20 for their third win, after the Stormers rallied from 24-6 down to 24-20 with six minutes remaining. The ACT Brumbies, reduced to 14 men for almost 20 minutes, held on to beat the New South Wales Waratahs 28-23 in a gripping Australian derby, inflicting the Waratahs first loss in three games. In Dunedin, the Western Force were reduced to 13 men for the last eight minutes but clung on to beat the Highlanders 31-29 for their second straight bonus-point victory. Replacement flyhalf Hayden Parker scored a last-minute try for the Highlanders but missed the conversion, allowing the Force to claim back-to-back wins for the first time since April 2011. The Auckland-based Blues scored 36 second-half points in the most remarkable comeback of the round but still went down 39-36 to the Lions in Johannesburg, to be left with only one win from four matches. The Blues had two players sin-binned during the second half. In Wellington, the Hurricanes overran the Cheetahs 60-27, by nine tries to three, to capture their first win of the season in a match in which defences were either inept or non-existent. The match featured the most bizarre sin-binning of the round -- Cheetahs fullback Willie Le Roux was shown a yellow card in the 43rd minute for a deliberate knock-on, though it seemed perfectly apparent he had attempted an intercept. The flurry of yellow cards and a number of other contentious decisions again focused attention on the poor or inconsistent standard of refereeing, which continues to frustrate coaches and players. Scrums remain a particular area of frustration but there have been wider concerns about the failure of referees to spot glaring infringements -- notably in a critical try for the Lions against the Blues which came from a knock-on. Players and coaches must also answer for a lack of structure and the poor quality of fundamental skills in many matches -- the rates of turnovers and handling errors are higher than even early season glitches can excuse. The match between the Hurricanes and Cheetahs was a free-for-all that lacked any structure and in which tackles were not only regularly missed but often not even attempted. The Brumbies showed the value of a well-organized defence in their win over the Waratahs. Though they conceded 14 late points, they were still able to hold on while a man short to post their third win from four games and to move to the top of the Australian conference. Flanker Scott Fardy and flyhalf Matt Toomua were leaders of an outstanding Brumbies defensive effort. Brumbies captain Ben Mowen said he was disappointed his team lost two players to yellow cards, requiring it to play most of the last 20 minutes with 14. "Discipline goes hand in hand with how we want to play," he said. "Thats not something you can do regularly and expect to get a result." The Sharks benefitted from a yellow card in beating the Reds after leading 25-6 at halftime. Queensland dominated a half during which it remained parked in Sharks territory but the sin-binning of Beau Robinson allowed the Sharks to score a converted try three minutes from fulltime to clinch the match. "We gave the Sharks some ball position and some ill-discipline really cost us - theyve got some great goalkickers and that showed on the scoreboard," Reds captain James Horwill said. The Chiefs again showed they are the best-coached team in New Zealand with their win over the Stormers. They scored five tries, including one to Tanerau Latimer in his 100th match, as coach Dave Rennie and his assistants devised a method to break down the Stormers formidable defence. "Its pretty exciting when you do a lot of analysis during the week and you see certain pictures that the defence gives you and you are able to exploit it right up the field," Chiefs co-captain Aaron Cruden said. "We made most of our best gains deep in our half as opposed to closer to their line. It was nice to step up." Koen Casteels Jersey . Jagr had a goal and two assists, Andy Greene scored 43 seconds into overtime and Marek Zidlicky had two goals as the Devils rallied past the Washington Capitals 5-4 Saturday night. Mousa Dembele Belgium Jersey . Dwyane Wade took over in the fourth quarter. We are told the table never lies. It is a cliché dragged out by fans and pundits regularly when discussions take place around which teams are better than others. However, the only lies being told are coming from the ones who deliver the cliché. We have have been told Manchester City are a poor away side. A quick glance of their record heading into Wednesdays match at West Brom (1 win, 1 draw and 4 losses) would suggest this but once again the league table was lying. To judge teams, at this stage of the season, solely on their results misses so many factors that go into ensuring teams sustain success in the long-term. During 90 minutes of football things happen that can have a direct effect on the result at the end of the game. It is too simplistic to say the team that won played well and the team that lost didnt and there is no better example of that this season than with Manchester City away from home. Before Wednesday at West Brom headlines, splashed across England previewing the match, called City away from home everything from rubbish to poor. It is, of course, not ideal to lose four games this season early in the season. In fact, the last team to lose four of their first eleven games (which City did) and win the title in the top flight of England was City themselves back in 1968. However, for the majority of their away matches this season City have been far from poor. On the contrary, City, in large parts of away matches, have looked like the attacking, entertaining team many dreamed they could sustain under Roberto Mancini. Two years ago under the Italian, City sprinted out of the blocks, scoring an incredible 23 goals in their first six away matches in the Premier League. Six goals at Manchester United and five at Tottenham sent messages that this team was the clear favourite to win the Premier League. Then the league started to work them out. Teams sat deeper and City couldnt adjust. They went on to win the league title, in the most dramatic ways through a late Sergio Aguero goal on the final day, but it was their atrocious away form that almost cost them. A look at their championship winning final league table shows City scored 38 goals and won 10 games away from home that season. What it fails to tell you is that half of their wins, and 23 of their 38 goals, came in those first six away matches. Ten goals, including 8 against Norwich and Wolves, and three wins also came in their last three matches, in late April and May. In the 10 away games in between, from the end of November to the middle of April, City scored just five goals (2 from open play), won 2, drew 3 and lost 5. It was a run that was far worse than the way they started this season but it didnt get the attention it deserved because the league table told a story that included Citys breathtaking start. When rivals United collapsed and handed City the title, Mancinis constant tactical changes, and failures to get his team to create as a unit away from home, was forgotten. It would play a massive part in their failure the following season, however. When City failed to win for the 7th time in their first 10 away games last season last year, on Boxing Day at Sunderland, their attempts at regaining the championship were already over. Wins later in 2013, at Arsenal and Manchester United, teams who didnt sit deep and took the game to City, werent surprising, but neither were there abysmal performances in losses at Southampton and Everton. When Mancini was replaced by Manuel Pellegrini many felt the Chilean had been hired to help turn around Citys woeful Champions League efforts under Mancini. That is certainly true, but also Pellegrini is expected to get more out of his team as an attacking unit, particularly away from home. There is no denying Citys brilliance at home and many teams will be on the wrong end of some serious hammerings this season, just as Norwich and Tottenham already have encountered. In those victories, City have shown they can score goals from quick transitions and counter-attacks, something that is sure to translate to successful away performances also. In fact, for large parts of their four away losses, City have been very impressive in attack, getting their full-backs forward and showing some useful combination play between their forwards. Their loss at Cardiff came from poor defending and goalkeeping on two corners. City were not at their best that day but did enough to win the match. Their loss at Aston Villa came from a fantastic individual free kick by Leandro Bacuna and some terrible defending and goalkeeping on a long clearance by Brad Guzan. City were absolutely magnificent that day and played far better than their past two visits to Villa Park, under Mancini, when they won 1-0 each time thanks to a goal from a set-piece (header by Joleon Lescott) and a mistimed poor back pass by Ciaran Clark (finished off by Carlos Tevez). Dedryck Boyata Belgium Jersey. Their loss at Chelsea came from poor defending, and, in particular, goalkeeping (there is a theme here) when Joe Hart rushed out and allowed Fernando Torres to put the ball in the back of the net in the final minute. Having gone a goal down, City were the best side in the second half, after Sergio Agueros equalizer, showing they can be equally dangerous when the Argentine plays as a lone striker with a strong midfield 3 behind him. City caused Chelsea much more of a threat than they did in their past two visits to Stamford Bridge when they were lifeless in each of those second halves. Like at Villa, it was yet more evidence, that City had improved away from home, blinded by the games result. Their loss at Sunderland was their worst of the season, highlighting the key area Pellegrini has to get right. Once again they were a real threat going forward but a second-string back four featuring Micah Richards, Martin Demichilis, Joleon Lescott, Aleksandar Kolarov let themselves down on the Phil Bardsley goal and this time their attackers could not bail them out. Citys defending, at times, away from home has clearly not been good enough but Pellegrini will know this is much less of a concern than if his attacking unit was not playing well. Scoring goals is the hardest thing to do in the game and if that is not working (as we saw under Mancini) it can lead to much bigger problems. Making a team organized and better defensively, particularly with the players at his disposal (this is no Newcastle of the mid 90s), is a much less difficult job for the Chilean. "I worry about the away form," Pellegrini conceded after the Sunderland loss, but he knew the way the team is playing in an open 4-4-2 style has to stay despite the results, saying: "Weve had a lot of chances and played really well in (away) matches, I am absolutely sure we are playing the right way and know the wins will come." That attitude took the manager and his City side to the Hawthorns for a date with West Brom on Wednesday evening. City welcomed back captain Vincent Kompany at the heart of their defence and kept their 4-4-2 shape with Edin Dzeko replacing Alvaro Negredo alongside Aguero.  Pellegrini had predicted the wins and performance would come and his players didnt let him down, Citys first half display will rank as one of the finest halves a team will play all season. After 24 minutes, they led 2-0 and were so dominant it should have been up by more. The first involved 14 passes, over 46 seconds, that saw the ball move to the right and to the overlapping right back Pablo Zabaleta whose cross was smashed home by Aguero. It was a sensational team goal but fifteen minutes their second one was even better, coming from 15 passes, in which the home side didnt touch the ball for 53 seconds, finishing with the left back, Kolarov, this time getting forward to cross for Yaya Toure to power home. It was a dream half of football for Pellegrini. Jesus Navas and Samir Nasri were outstanding in their movement and combination play while Aguero was just as lethal with Dzeko as it has been with Negredo this season. At the back, Kompany was a rock with key blocks denying West Brom of any real scoring threats. City were that dominant they made more successful passes in the first half than they attempted in the recent win over Swansea at home. This, as regular viewers to their away games would attest to, this was not a team who have played poorly away from home. In the second half City stepped down a few gears but still sent West Brom fans home early when they converted a third, from the spot, again created by a run by full back Kolarov down the left. "You should have gone Christmas shopping," chanted City fans to the home supporters as they dragged themselves out of their seats. Not only had they watched a superb away performance, they had also failed to see their team put a shot on goal or attempt a shot inside the penalty box for the first 81 mins. It was the perfect all-around performance for City until West Brom scored two late goals with Toure, Nasri and Aguero all resting on the bench. In many ways it was fitting that those who will judge the game solely on the scoreline will once again miss the point. City look very much like the formidable away team they need to be to contend for the title. Just dont let the scoreline or the league table tell you otherwise. ' ' '
It appears the Dallas Stars will be without goalie Kari Lehtonen for the foreseeable future. Hyun-Jin Ryu Jersey . Head coach Lindy Ruff confirmed on Sunday that his starting goalie has a head injury and the team will take it day by day. "We know hes not doing that well and we have to make a decision later on (today), but it doesnt look good though," Ruff told reporters. Lehtonen was run over in the crease by Minnesota Wild forward Erik Haula in the third period of Saturdays game in Dallas. Lehtonen fell backwards and hit his head on the crossbar while the impact of the collision knocked his mask off. The goalie was bleeding from the head and left the game. He was replaced by newly-acquired netminder Tim Thomas, who was making his Stars debut. Speaking after the game on Saturday, Ruff speculated as to the nature of the injury. "The likelihood is its a concussion on just a dirt play. It should be suspended - a fourth liner takes out our goaltender," said Ruff. Joc Pederson Womens Jersey . Nine years later, he might have finally figured it out. He had only five rounds in the 60s in his previous eight trips. Clayton Kershaw Youth Jersey . Defending champion Viktoria Rebensburg of Germany was third, trailing 0.Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Ondrej Pavelec was spectacular in net as he stopped 46 shots and the Winnipeg Jets held off a late surge from the Dallas Stars for a 2-1 win on Thursday. Evander Kane scored a short-handed goal and Michael Frolik also lit the lamp for the Jets, who were coming off a dominant 8-2 win over Florida on Tuesday. I felt good tonight, but its only one game, said Pavelec. It was big for me as well. I needed this one. Trevor Daleys marker made it a one-goal game with 1:16 remaining and Anders Lindback allowed both goals on 22 shots for the Stars, who have lost five of their last six games. Early in the third period, Blake Wheelers stick caught Erik Cole up high in the corner and drew blood to bring about a four-minute Dallas power play. Less than a minute into the man advantage, Pavelec robbed Tyler Seguin with a glove save. It was Winnipeg, however, that scored on the extended power play as Kane took a turnover in the neutral zone, skated around Daley and had his wrist shot trickle through the pads of Lindback for a 2-0 game with 12:26 to play. Dallas pulled Lindback with oover two minutes to play and got within a goal moments later as Daley ripped a shot short side from the left circle. Russell Martin Youth Jersey. Lindback went to the bench again in favor of the extra attacker, but the Stars were unable to force overtime. Mathieu Perreault skated from the right boards behind the net and slipped a pass to the slot, where Frolik wristed the puck home to start the scoring 3:53 into the game. The Stars threatened on the power play after Dustin Byfuglien went off for hooking 6:47 into the second, but Pavelec fought off six shots to keep the Jets in front. Pavelec seemed unstoppable in the middle stanza as he made another terrific save, denying Jamie Benns point-blank one-timer with under five minutes to play in the frame. Game Notes Perreault extended his point streak to five games (6G, 3A) ... The Jets have scored 19 goals over their past four games ... Daley is tied for second in the league among defenseman with 11 goals ... Winnipeg also defeated Dallas 5-2 on Dec. 9 ... The two teams will meet again on Jan. 31 at MTS Centre. ' ' '

This series has been mostly about the Clippers and the horrid situation with owner Donald Sterling. Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling from the NBA for life on Tuesday, then the Clips won Game 5 to take the series lead. You can catch all the action live on TSN2 at 10pm et/7pm pt. On Thursday, the Warriors staved off elimination with a 100-99 home victory. "Im fighting for my life. My guys are fighting for their basketball lives this year. One thing I told the guys this morning, this group will never be together again, our group. So weve got to do whatever it takes to find a way to prolong this thing, to find a way to advance. Dont rob ourselves," said Golden State coach Mark Jackson. He explained further that the team would be different based on draft picks, players leaving and new players coming into the fold. There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Jacksons job security should the Warriors lose in the first round. But those sideline stories paled in comparison to whats gone on with the Clippers. After silent protests and lifetime bans, the Clippers now have one game to extend their championship hopes. "We let one slip away, but we fought hard all season to have a Game 7 at home," said Clippers forward Matt Barnes. "Now, weve just got to take care of business." Stephen Curry poured in 24 points and handed out nine assists to lead the Warriors to victory in Game 6. Andre Iguodala added 15 points and Draymond Green finished with 14 points, 14 rebounds, five steals and four assists for the Warriors, who shot just 39.3 percent from the field (35-of-89). Jamal Crawford scored 19 points off the bench and Barnes added 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Clippers. Chris Paul struggled to post just nine points and eight assists and DeAndre Jordan added nine points and 19 boards in the setback. Blake Griffin scored 17 points to go with nine rebounds and five assists before fouling out. After three Crawford free throws to start the fourth tied the game at 70-70, the Warriors opened a 15-7 burst to go up 85-77. Klay Thompson capped the surge with a transition layup. The Clippers shot their way back into it as Crawfords 3-pointer had LA within 899-86 with just over 5 1/2 minutes to go. Michael Gallup Youth Jersey. Iguodala and Green made back-to-back baskets to open a 93-86 edge moments later. J.J. Redick, who had just missed back-to-back wide open 3-pointers, buried a contested try to get the Clippers back within two possessions with 3:18 left. Iguodala had a shot at a four-point play after Griffin was whistled for a controversial foul on Iguodalas trey from the corner, but he missed the free throw and the Warriors lead stayed at 96-89. Crawford buried a deep 3, and after Curry missed a step-back jumper, he found Barnes cutting to the basket for an easy layup that made it 96-94 with 1:43 to go. Green grabbed an offensive rebound on the other end and was knocked to the floor by Jordan. Green made both free throws to make it a four-point game with 1:19 left, but Crawford found Jordan for a quick alley-oop slam to make it 98-96 at the 1:10 mark. Harrison Barnes drove to the hoop on the next possession and drew a foul on Redick before sinking both shots from the charity stripe to open a 100-96 lead with 55.6 seconds left. Paul couldnt cash in on an opportunity to cut the Clippers deficit to two. After blowing by a defender, Paul had his layup swatted away by Thompson. Curry turned it over on the other end with 20.9 seconds left, but the Clippers missed two open 3-point attempts before Matt Barnes desperation heave with 2.5 seconds left made it 100-99. The Clippers immediately fouled Curry on the inbounds pass and sent him to the line with 0.4 seconds left. Curry missed the first free throw before intentionally missing the second. The ball bounced off the rim and was swatted to half court as time expired. "It wasnt a very well played game by either team, but I felt both teams played extremely hard. I honestly thought they played, I dont know if it was harder than us -- we played hard -- but they won the 50-50 game in a big way," said Clippers coach Doc Rivers. "Every big rebound they got. They made the big plays." Jermaine ONeal was injured in the victory on a play many Warriors believed was dirty when LAs Glen Davis hit him in the knee. ONeal underwent an MRI on Friday that revealed a bone bruise of his right knee cap and he is listed as questionable. The Warriors havent played a Game 7 since the 1977 Western Conference semifinals, while the Clippers are 1-1 in their last two Game 7s. ' ' '
NAPLES, Fla. Willian Chelsea Jersey . -- Even though he has beaten Bernhard Langer twice down the stretch for Champions Tour titles, Kirk Triplett isnt ready to say hes the German stars nemesis. "No," Triplett said. "Were just going to say the sample size is still very small." The 51-year-old Triplett won the ACE Group Classic on Sunday for his third Champions Tour title, holing a 6-foot par putt on the final hole for a one-stroke victory. Triplett shot a 6-under 66 to finish at 16-under 200 on TwinEagles Talon Course. He won the 50-and-over tours Pebble Beach event the last two years after winning three times on the PGA Tour. "Ive never won out here on this side of the world," Triplett said. "Im a West Coast guy through and through, so to win on this Bermuda grass is, I think, a little bit of a minor miracle for me." Langer, the defending champion, Duffy Waldorf and Olin Browne tied for second. Playing in the final threesome, Triplett, Langer and Waldorf were tied for the lead with a hole to play. In Tripletts last win at Pebble Beach, he also was paired with Langer, who has owned this event the last three years, winning in 2011 and 2013 and finishing second behind Kenny Perry in 2012. "Hes awesome to play with," Triplett said. "Im telling you, you know the guy, hes such a great competitor and hes such a nice man. We were joking last week, If you shot one shot worse than Bernhard every day all year, what would you finish on the money list? Somebody goes, Second, right? because it just feels that way sometimes." On the par-4 18th, Waldorf drove into a bunker and wound up with a bogey for a 66. "I hit a bad drive," he said. "So I mean, it was a bad drive. The pin was in a tough spot. I laid up fine, but I spun my wedge a lot and just didnt -- I didnt hit it close enough to have a chance for par." Admittedly using the wrong club, Langers second shot sailed left, and his 12-footer for par curled around the cup for bogey and a 67. Tripletts second shot from a divot landed about 25 feet from the pin. His birdie putt went past the hole and he made the 6-footer for the victory. "You want to make birdies but you dont want to make bogeys and youre thinking to yourself, 4s not going to lose this probably, " Triplett said. "I mean, it might. If it does, if it loses the 18th hole, you look the guy in the eye, shake his hand and say, Well done, sir. "It wasnt the best (putt) I made all day, but it was good enough." Langer has finished in the top 10 in 40 of the last 48 tournaments hes played in. The German star won the season-opening event in Hawaii last month for his 19th Champions Tour title. Waldorf, coming off a playoff loss to Michael Allen last week in Boca Raton in the Allianz Championship, almost holed out on the par-3 16th. Pedro Jersey . 9 Baylor Bears just needed some time to get on track in their first game after the Christmas break. Cesc Fabregas Chelsea Jersey . Its a long season and we just need to continue to push." Its been a frustrating week for the ballclub.KAPALUA, Hawaii -- Webb Simpson might have pulled out of the Tournament of Champions to be with his caddie if he were not on an island in the middle of the Pacific. Reassurance came from Paul Tesori, his caddie and close friend whose newborn son is in intensive care in a Florida hospital. "Paul sent me a text this morning, just told me he loved me and wanted to go out and fight as hard as I would any other day," Simpson said Sunday after doing just that. Simpson made four birdies in a five-hole stretch on the back nine at Kapalua for a 5-under 68, giving him a share of the lead with defending champion Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth going into the final round Monday on the Plantation Course. On a glorious day of sun and surf, Simpson played with a heavy heart. His caddie and friend, Paul Tesori, was in a hospital in Florida with newborn son Isaiah in intensive care. Simpson said the child suffered a seizure shortly after he was born with indications of an infection in his brain. One of Tesoris best friends in the business is Ted Scott, the caddie for Bubba Watson, who is filling in this week as Simpsons caddie. Tesori tweeted that he tuned into the telecast at Kapalua in time to see his sons name on Scotts hat. "I felt like we were out there playing for Isaiah," Simpson said. "Paul needs something to watch there in the hospital. Its been a long few days, so hopefully, we gave him something good to see on TV. But it was tough. I was thinking about him a lot out there." Winning on Monday wont be easy. Simpson was the first to reach 14-under 205, thanks to a terrific par save on the 17th and a long two-putt par on the 18th hole, a par 5 with a front hole location that made it difficult to get close because the green and the grain move sharply away. Spieth, the 20-year-old Texan who looks just as good as he did during a sensational rookie season, got back into the mix with a tough birdie on the par-3 eighth and capped off a 69 with a 15-foot birdie putt on the 17th and a long two-putt for par on the 18th. Spieth won the John Deere Classic last year. This is his first time with at least a share of the 54-hole lead. "This is a new position for me," Spieth said. "Ive never slept on a 54-hole lead. Im excited about it and its going to be a fun time tomorrow to get to play with Webb for the third time this week." The most intimidating figure is Johnson, whose power is suited for the Plantation Course. Johnson also had a 69 and was disappointed at playing the par 5s in 3-under for the day. One of them was a tap-in eagle on the par-5 ninth. But he hhad to settle for pars on the long holes on the back nine. Ruben Loftus-Cheek Jersey. One shot hit the front of the green and rolled off the putting surface on the 15th and into a valley. On the 18th, his 4-iron came up short and left him a pitch that had to be perfect. It was a few inches from that. The pitch didnt have enough roll to glide with the grain and left him a 15-foot birdie chance that he missed. "Other than that, I played pretty good," Johnson said. No matter. Hes still tied for the lead, still in good position to start the new year the same way he did in 2013. Zach Johnson, who had a three-shot lead going into the third round, couldnt make anything and shot a 74. His only birdie was a two-putt on the par-5 fifth hole. Still, he was only two shots behind at 12-under 207 heading into the Monday finish. Instead of building his lead, Zach Johnson effectively gave more players in this winners-only field a chance. Gary Woodland (67), PGA champion Jason Dufner (69), Brandt Snedeker (69) and Kevin Streelman, who had a 33 on the back nine to salvage a 70, were within three shots of the lead. Masters champion Adam Scott wasted a chance to join them. Scott was at 11-under and in range of the par-5 15th until he smothered a long iron into the hazard and had to scramble for a bogey. He missed a 7-foot birdie putt on the next hole, missed the green and took bogey on the 17th and closed with a birdie for a 69. He still was only four shots behind. Simpson has made 12 of his 18 birdies this week on the back nine, and his hopes are to stay in the mix and work one more day of magic. The most intriguing character in this mix is Spieth, who a year ago didnt have status on any tour in the world. A couple of good finishes on tour through sponsor exemptions helped secure his card. He won at the John Deere Classic, finished No. 7 in the FedEx Cup, played in the Presidents Cup team and came into the week at No. 22 in the world. This figures to be a big test -- a share of the lead, contending with the defending champion and a major champion. Spieth figures he cleared a big hurdle Sunday when he didnt lose patience over a few bad breaks. He thought back to last year, when he struggled in the third round. He wasted good birdie chances on the 15th and 16th and was starting to run hot. "But I got to 17 tee box and thankfully, that view kind of calmed me down a little bit and I was able to snag a birdie there," he said. Spieth figures to need more of those Monday, as will everyone else who wants to open the year with a win and guarantee a return to Maui next year. ' ' '

The 26-year-old Messi helped Barcelona win the 2012-13 Spanish league by scoring 46 goals despite missing several games with a right hamstring pull near the end of the season. Messi also won the award for 34 goals in 2009-10, and a Spanish record 50 in 2011-12. The first player to receive the award three times, Messi dedicated his latest trophy to his family and his teammates, calling it a team award. "This is a beautiful award that goes to the entire squad for what it has done," Messi said. "It is a group award more than an individual one because those are a lot of goals. I wouldnt have won it without them, this one or the previous ones." Messi is recovering from a left hamstring tear that will probably keep him sidelined for the rest of 2013. It was his third leg injury of the seasoon. Noah Fant Youth Jersey. Before his latest injury, he had eight goals in 11 league appearances. After receiving the trophy from former Barcelona star Hristo Stoichkov, Messi said his leg was feeling better while remaining cautious about rushing back. Several teammates, including Cesc Fabregas, Xavi Hernandez and Carles Puyol, along with club president Sandro Rosell were in attendance. Messi has won the world player of the year award an unprecedented four years in a row. He is again nominated this year, but he has tough competition from Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo and Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery. Messi has played a major part in Barcelonas impressive run of titles over the past decade. He has won three Champions Leagues, six Spanish leagues, two Copas del Rey, two Club World Cups, six Spanish Super Cups and two European Super Cups. Barcelonas all-time leading scorer, Messis 65 goals in the Champions League is second to former Madrid striker Raul Gonzalezs 71. ' ' '
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Seth Joyner Jersey .Va. - Billy Hurley III has been waiting for a breakthrough moment on the PGA Tour. On Independence Day, the former U.S. Navy officer might have set himself up for one this weekend in the Greenbrier Classic. Hurley shot a season-best 7-under 63 on Friday to take the second-round lead. Hurleys bogey-free round included a chip-in from 29 feet on No. 4 in cool conditions before the wind picked up considerably late in his morning round. "You know, anytime you play good, its great, right?" Hurley said. "Theres special days of the year for our country, and having served ... adds something to it. Its kind of pretty cool, I guess, to shoot 7 under on the 4th of July." Its a nice storyline. Then again, having military experience wasnt on his mind in jumping to the top of the leaderboard. "I was just trying to keep getting the ball in the hole," he said. Hurley was at 9-under 131 at Old White TPC. Eleven players were within four shots of him. Kevin Chappell (65) and Chris Stroud (66) were a stroke back. Troy Matteson Troy Matteson had a 61 to vault into fourth place at 7 under. He has made the cut in all five years of the Greenbrier Classic. Brice Garnett (66), Steve Stricker (68) and Chris Kirk (69) were another stroke back at 6 under. Hurley graduated from Annapolis in 2004 and spent five years in the Navy. He playing golf sparingly while stationed in Hawaii and worked out as much as he could. Being mentally tough on the course comes easy for Hurley, whose missions included steering a Navy destroyer through the Suez Canal. Playing partner Chris Stroud said it was "special" for a former military man to be leading the tournament and was amazed at how Hurley could recapture his golf game. "Theres a lot to be said about that," Stroud said. Hurley rejoined the PGA Tour this season and has three top 10 finishes so far, including a tie for eighth at Congressional last week. His best career finish is a tie for fourth in the AT&T National two years ago, also at Congressional. A solid ending at The Greenbrier resort would get him into the British Open later this month. The four best finishers not previously eligible among the top 12 on the final leaderboard will earn spots in the July 17-20 tournament at Royal Liverpool. Playing alongside good friend Hurley, Stroud birdied four of his first five holes but gained no more ground. Chappells round included holing a 35-yard pitch on the par-3 15th after a poor tee shot. Chappells only top 10 finish of the season came at Colonial. But this week, hes at ease amid the mountains, Howards Creek running through the Old White TPC and the rest of the resorts atmosphere. "You know, the course has a great flow to it, just at peace out there," he said. "All the running water and all the good scenery just puts me in a good spot." Matteson holed a 35-yard pitch on the par-3 15th and needed just 19 putts — one shy of the PGA Tour record held by eight players. "It was unlike any day Ive had this year," said Matteson, who had missed the cut in 11 of his previous 13 tournaments. "I just havent been getting it in the hole all year, and to have a day like this really kind of turns things around." Bubba Watson was among five players at 5 under. He shot 67. First-round leader Jonas Blixt had three early bogeys and shot 73 to drop into a tie for 25th at 3 under. FexEx Cup points leader Jimmy Walker (75) was among those who missed the cut. He finished 5 over. Ninety players advanced to weekend play at even par or better. Patrick Rodgers shot 75, but at even par for the tournament he made his third straight cut since turning pro. Dallas Goedert Womens Jersey . Then the shots started falling. Quinn Cook made three 3-pointers in the final 4:38, Tyus Jones put the game away with a deep 3 with 10 seconds left and the Blue Devils went into Charlottesville and rallied late to stun No. 2 Virginia, 69-63, handing the Cavaliers their first loss of the season. Jones finished with 17 points while Cook and Justise Winslow netted 15 apiece for the Blue Devils (18-3, 5-3 ACC), who were primed to fall three games back in the ACC standings before closing the game on an 11-0 run. Malcolm Brogdon paced Virginia (19-1, 7-1) with 17 points, and Justin Anderson added 11. The Cavaliers were four wins shy of tying a school record for best start, set in 1981. The Ralph Sampson-led Cavaliers went to the Final Four that season. Virginia came in giving up a nation-low 49.1 points per game and looked strong on the defensive end for most of the game before the late collapse. Duke led 26-25 at halftime despite scoring all of its points in the paint or at the free throw line. Andersons sweeping layup early in the second half gave Virginia its first lead since it was 2-0. Jahlil Okafors tip-slam at the other end put Duke back in front, but London Perrantes came right back down for a layup that gave the Cavaliers a lead that they would hold for the next 16-plus minutes. Trailing by 11 near the midpoint of the second half, Tyus Jones finally hit Dukes first 3-ball. The Blue Devils kept pushing and had it down to two following Matt Jones layup on a nifty feed from Okafor, but Perrantes brought the crowd back to life witth a deep triple that sparked a 7-0 run the other way. Carson Wentz Womens Jersey. Winslow was assessed a flagrant-1 foul for grabbing Andersons leg when the two got tangled under the UVA basket during the surge. Anderson hit the two free throws and Anthony Gill drove in for a layup to stretch the lead back to 56-47. Duke scored eight of the next 10 to get within three at the final media timeout. Out of the break, Brogdons triple and an alley-oop to Anderson from Perrantes straddled a Cook trey and gave the Cavaliers a 63-58 lead. They went scoreless the rest of the way, missing four field goal attempts and a free throw. Matt Jones had Duke within 63-61 with his 3 from the top of the key, Winslow tied it with a layup and Cook forced a timeout with his triple at 1:19. After empty possessions both ways, Tyus Jones showed no nerves with a hand in his face and the game on the line, beating the shot clock with the game- clinching 3. Okafor, one of the candidates for ACC and National Player of the Year, was held to two points in the first half. Darion Atkins, who netted all nine of his points over the first 20 minutes, and timely double-teams kept Okafor in check early, but he came alive down the stretch and finished with 10 points and nine boards. Game Notes The first half was the only half this season that Duke did not hit a 3-pointer ... Earlier in the week, Duke dismissed guard Rasheed Sulaimon for repeated violations of team rules. It was the first player dismissed under coach Mike Krzyzewski ... Krzyzewski picked up his 53rd career win against Virginia. He also has 53 wins against Georgia Tech. He has beaten Maryland the most times, 55. ' ' '
