PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks have optioned right-hander Will Harris to Triple-A Reno and selected the contract of right-hander Mike Bolsinger. Air Force 1 Haute Femme . Arizona also transferred right-handed reliever David Hernandez, who has a torn elbow ligament, to the 60-day disabled list. Harris went 0-1 with a 9.72 ERA in seven relief appearances. He is 5-2 with a 4.22 ERA in parts of three seasons in the majors. Bolsinger will be making his first appearance in the majors and is slated to start Saturday at Los Angeles in place of struggling right-hander Trevor Cahill, who will move to the bullpen. Bolsinger was 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA in two starts for Triple-Reno. Cahill is 0-4 with a 9.17 ERA in four starts this season. Nike Air Force 1 07 Homme Pas Cher . "First, I would like to offer my deepest and sincerest apologies for any harm I have inflicted on University of Missouri defensive lineman, Michael Sam," the statement read. Nike Air Force 1 Just Do It Blanche Pas Cher . As if he had been rehearsing it, Vasquez looked around with a grimacing stare as he clinched two fists and flexed his muscles. What do you think of DeMar DeRozans face after he hits a big shot, he was asked moments earlier. Now the Olympic hockey tournament begins for the Canadian womens hockey team. And it wont be as easy as Saturdays one-sided laugher against Switzerland; a game in which Canada outshot its opponents 69-14 en route to a 5-0 victory. Mondays game (10 a.m. ET) against Finland promises to be tougher. That said, the strategy for Canada remains the same according to Melodie Daoust. “I think we need to keep shooting the puck like we did against Switzerland,” Daoust said. “And I think using our speed will be a big part of our game.” Finland is a formidable opponent and is coming off a hard-fought 3-1 loss to the United States. The Finns have finished third or fourth at every Olympics and world championship they have competed in. They won the Olympic bronze medal in 1998 and 2010 in Vancouver. American Jessie Vetter was complimentary of Team Finland after she and her teammates won Saturday. “Its not easy playing a team like Finland,” Vetter said. They are a tough team with a goaltender who keeps them in the game. Im just happy we won the opening match.” Finnish goalie has game The Finnish goaltender, Noora Raty, is capable of winning games on her own. The 24-year-old, who has been with the national team since she wass 15 and played four years at the University of Minnesota, shut out the United States 1-0 at the 2008 world championship. Air Force 1 Low Noir. Canada knows all about coming up against a hot goaltender. Swiss stopper Florence Schelling played brilliantly Saturday, making 64 saves as Team Canada held a huge territorial edge in play, but were unable to score on many of their chances. It likely wont be any easier against Raty. “We know we have to be better as we move forward,” said Canadian veteran Hayley Wickenheiser. “But these countries are getting harder to play against. The difference between the countries is narrowing, but it comes down to fitness and conditioning, and the fact that we are able to train and play together more.” Vetter had some words of advice for Team Canada about facing the Finns. “Youve got to be mentally in it,” Vetter said. “Finland is a great side who play great transitions and you need to make those saves. Their conditioning and speed makes them a team you cant look past.” Rebecca Johnston paced Canada with a goal and two assists against Switzerland. Wickenheiser scored a short-handed goal and other singles went to Jocelyne Larocque, Tara Watchorn and Marie-Philip Poulin. ' ' '
That night The Leafs held “King Clancy Night" and Clancy wore a green uniform with a large shamrock on the back while the rest of the Leafs wore their familiar blue. Troy Brown Jersey . The opposing coach was Lester Patrick of the New York Rangers who complained about the alternate jersey on the ice to the officials. Clancy was forced to go back to his regular uniform for the second and third periods and Toronto won the game 3-2. Clancy had some fond memories of the event and described it this way. "Whenever I think back to March 17, 1934 and how the Maple Leafs honoured me with a night, Im still amazed at the work they went to just for me," Clancy humbly stated. "They gave me the greatest tribute an individual could ever hope to get. I didnt do anything to deserve it. They must have banded together and said, Hes an Irishman. Aliaksandra Ramanouskaya of Belarus finished first with an 80.62 while Russias Veronika Korsunova was second with a score of 78.88.I really have no words for what Im feeling, said Corbo. New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton announced Monday that rookie safety Kenny Vaccaro suffered a broken ankle in Sundays loss to the Panthers. Davante Adams Super Bowl Jersey . Vaccaro will have surgery on Tuesday, according to Payton. After the Texas product got stuck in a pile, trainers immediately put an air cast on his left leg and he was carted off the field. Vaccaro registered 79 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and an interception in 14 games this season. Veteran safety Roman Harper will assume the duties of Vaccaro. The 10-5 Saints hold the final wild-card spot in the NFC. Geronimo Allison Super Bowl Jersey . Terry came from Boston along with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce but has appeared in just 35 games after a knee injury, averaging 4.5 points on 36 per cent shooting. Evans was a favourite of fans but not coach Jason Kidd, who used him in just 30 of their 51 games. Reggie White Super Bowl Jersey . These days, just about anyone can get a taste of the friendship that has blossomed between All-Star Kevin Durant and Oklahoma City Thunder teammate James Harden, most famous in the past two weeks or so for the elbow to the head he took from the Los Angeles Lakers Metta World Peace.Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Back in 1964, Navys Roger Staubach and Notre Dames John Huarte quarterbacked their teams against one another with the Fighting Irish shutting out the Midshipmen, 40-0. What did these two players have in common? Both were Heisman Trophy winners, although Huarte would not receive the award until after the season. On January 4, 2005, Jason White and his Oklahoma Sooners played Matt Leinart and his USC Trojans in the Orange Bowl. Both quarterbacks already had won the Heisman but the point differential was almost similar as the Trojans won 36. Approximately four years later, two more Heisman Trophy winners met as another Oklahoma quarterback, Sam Bradford, squared off against Floridas Tim Tebow in the BCS Championship Game. The one-loss Gators defeated the one-loss Sooners, 24-14. Fast forward to this season and there are two more Heisman Trophy winners taking on one another, this time in the 2015 Rose Bowl. The victor moves on to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game against either Alabama or Ohio State. Oregons Marcus Mariota has been on fire all season long but has been most effective since Nov. 8 when the Ducks defeated Utah. The junior has thrown 12 touchdown passes with zero interceptions since then, leading Oregon to 193 points - the largest four-game total in the teams 12-game FBS schedule. The Ducks also have put it together defensively allowing just 17 points per game over their last five contests. The defense gave up an average of 28 points per game in its first seven FBS matchups. They will need their defense to stay on course against an explosive Florida State offense and last years Heisman Trophy winner, Jameis Winston. The sophomore had an off season in 2014 but still threw for 3,559 yards - ninth best in FBS play. When discussing Winston, most people talk about his propensity to turn the ball over (17 interceptions in 2014). However, only one quarterback with at least 12 interceptions completed a higher percentage of passes than his 65 percent and that was Boise States Grant Hedrick. It is true Winston has not performed as well as he had in 2013 but it has been clear since the first game of this season that the talent at Florida State is nowhere near the level it was last year. Moreover, Winston should be given a ton of credit for keeping the Seminoles unbeaten despite so many close finishes. The key to this matchup is not at quarterback or even at running bback where both teams possess tremendous freshmen (Royce Freeman at Oregon and Dalvin Cook at Florida State). Clay Matthews Super Bowl Jersey. The game will be won by the team with the better defense. It is difficult to judge which team that is, especially since Oregon plays in a more offensive-minded conference which skews the numbers in Florida States favor. To wit, the Seminoles have allowed fewer yards, fewer yards per play and fewer yards per carry. However, Oregon has given up fewer yards per pass attempt and, surprisingly, the Ducks have allowed fewer points even with seven of their 13 games against top 50 offenses. Florida State played just three contests against top 50 offenses. Oregon does have to deal with the absence of cornerback Ifo Ekpre- Olomu as the senior is out with a knee injury, which even things out a bit. When all is said and done, look for the Ducks and Mariota to get the best of Florida State and Winston with a 38-31 victory. ALABAMA AND OHIO STATE MEET IN SUGAR BOWL Which team will play Oregon for the title? Alabama seems to be the logical choice as the Crimson Tide have been in the AP top four all but two weeks of the season while the Buckeyes, outside of the first week, did not see the top 10 until week 12. Despite its high ranking, Alabama had just four easy wins since the end of September. In the five other games, the Tide had three victories (and one loss) by a touchdown or less. The other matchup was an 11-point win over Auburn, a game they trailed heading into the fourth quarter. Ohio State made it this far due to its dominating 59-0 performance over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game. Cardale Jones threw three touchdown passes and Ezekiel Elliott did his best Melvin Gordon impersonation with 220 yards on 20 carries for the 12-1 Buckeyes. One thing is for certain - Ohio State will not shut out Alabama. Blake Sims, for all his faults, is one hundred times better than Joel Stave. Furthermore, Alabamas offense is the best one Ohio State has faced outside of the possible exception of Michigan State. Ohio States offense will be unable to keep up with the Crimson Tide, especially with Jones leading the way for the Buckeyes. It is one thing to get the job done against Wisconsin up 24-0 just 16 minutes into the contest, but it will be a completely different scenario against an Alabama defense ranked 4th in the country in scoring defense. Expect a blowout in the Sugar Bowl as Alabama wins, 35-23. ' ' '
TORONTO -- Dillon Brooks scored a game-high 29 points, including a 16-for-17 night from the foul line, as Canada downed Argentina 91-82 in overtime on Monday to advance to the FIBA Americas under-18 championship game. Air Max 270 Black And White . The Canadians led for much of the game before Argentina forced overtime in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter. Canada weathered the storm after squandering a lead with a series of made shots. "Its a fantastic win for our country with 11 first-time Canadian national team members," said head coach Roy Rana. "What an incredible growth experience for this group. Were so happy to be playing for Gold. We havent been able to get over that hump for a long time so its beautiful to see this team do it." Montaque Gill-Caesar finished with 24 points and six rebounds for Canada, giving the team a potent one-two punch on the wings. Jose Vildoza, whose 26 points kept the Canadians on their toes until the final buzzer, led Argentina. Team Canada will face the winner of Monday nights match between the United States and the Dominican Republic. Air Max 270 React White . Four years after winning gold on home ice in Vancouver, the Canadians will get a chance to make it two in a row Sunday against Sweden after beating the United States 1-0 in the Olympic semifinals Friday at Bolshoy Ice Dome. Air Max 270 All Black .J. -- The New York Jets have promoted Tony Sparano Jr.FRANKFURT - Bayern Munich began the defence of its Bundesliga title on Friday by beating Wolfsburg 2-1 with goals from Thomas Mueller and Arjen Robben shortly before and after the interval. Bayern dominated the match until a goal by Ivica Olic in the 52nd minute that breathed new life into Wolfsburgs game. Wolfsburg wasted a tremendous late opportunity to earn a point and Robben hit the crossbar in stoppage time. "It would have been difficult for us if they had made it 2-2," Bayern director Matthias Sammer said. Both teams were missing several injured players. Bayern was without Franck Ribery and Bastian Schweinsteiger, among others. But central defender Holger Badstuber returned to the Bundesliga after missing 20 months with a knee injury and two operations. Bayern coach Pep Guardiola gave 17-year-old Gianluca Gaudino, son of former Germany international Maurizio Gaudino, his Bundesliga debut and the teenager had a good game, nearly setting up a goal. New Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski failed to score and was substituted late in the second half. Guardiola had predicted that his team would face a difficult first half of the season due to the many injuries and because many players were still getting into shape after the World Cup. But he started with five of his six Germany players, plus Robben, who also played throughout the Worldd Cup with third-placed Netherlands. Air Max 270 Bred. And Robben was one of the top players in the season opener. Lewandowski set up Mueller early but Mueller tried to play back the ball instead of shooting and the Wolfsburg defence cleared. Gaudino then chipped a pass and Lewandowski attempted an acrobatic first-time effort but Wolfsburgs goalkeeper Max Gruen palmed the ball over. Bayern opened the scoring in the 37th when Robben faked Luiz Gustavo and sent in a low cross that was knocked in from close range by Mueller. Mueller began the move that led to Bayerns second goal in the 47th, feeding Lewandowski, who launched Robben. Josuha Guilavogui appeared to move aside and Robben had the space he needed to slot the ball inside the post. Wolfsburg got back into the match when Olic picked up a throw-in and fired onto the underside of the crossbar and into the net of his former team. Junior Malanda should have salvaged the point for Wolfsburg in the 79th. He raced in to connect with a low cross from Maximilan Arnold but the ball hit Bayern and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuers leg and bounced off the crossbar. It fell to Malanda but he hit it with his shin and managed to miss the target from just one meter (yard) out. Bayerns substitute Sebastian Rode found the net in the 84th but the play was called offside in a questionable decision. ' ' '
NEW YORK -- His name is already on the ball. Oren Burks Super Bowl Jersey . Now Adam Silver can put his stamp on the NBA. On All-Star Saturday in New Orleans, Silver will deliver his first state of the league press conference as commissioner, a chance to tell a worldwide viewing audience how he plans to make the NBA bigger and better than it was under David Stern. Dont expect anything major. After working so closely with Stern during his 22 years at the league, Silvers fingerprints were already all over the $5.5 billion business long before he became in charge of it 10 days ago. "Im not coming in with a five-point plan," Silver told The Associated Press during an interview in his office at NBA headquarters. "Im not an outsider coming into the league. Ive been part of this league for a long time and if there was something that I thought shouldve been done markedly different than the way its done now, I think David and I would have pushed each other to do it. "My priority is the game and thats what Ill be telling people next Saturday." He has been at the NBA since 1992, overseeing the leagues entertainment empire, helping negotiate collective bargaining agreements, and on Feb. 1, he replaced Stern. He is liked by owners and respected by players, all believing Silver is the person to continue the massive growth the league saw under Stern. "Hes someone who has the same kind of feel that we have, in the sense of how can we make this pie bigger? How can we make this game bigger? Miami Heat All-Star Dwyane Wade said. "Hes going to be a good commissioner I believe. Strong in what he believes in. He was in the (CBA) meetings as well, so we know what kind of guy he is and we respect him." Silver, 51, ended up at taking Sterns old job after ignoring his advice early in his career. He laughs now when recalling the path that led to him becoming the NBA commissioner. "It never even was a consideration of working at the NBA," Silver said. "I dont think I understood what that meant. I truly stumbled into working at the NBA." Silver began his career in the legal field but was interested in transitioning to business, the same move Stern had so successfully made. So he wrote to Stern, who had worked at the same firm where Silvers father, Edward, was a lawyer. Silver had handled some media cases and was aware of Sterns accomplishments in negotiating cable TV deals. Stern gave him the number of someone to call, but the job was outside New York. Silver wasnt interested in moving, which he explained to Stern when they spoke again. "He said, Why didnt you tell me? Ive got some other ideas," Silver said. "It was happenstance," he added. "I dont think I quite understood what I was getting into at the time." He doesnt plan on changing much, insisting that he and Stern would have already made whatever changes they felt necessary. But while the NBAs international growth is frequently considered Sterns greatest achievement, Silver seems focused on boosting the games popularity in the United States. Silver has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to basketball. He attended Duke in the early 1980s before the Blue Devils became a powerhouse, when nobody camped out outside Cameron Indoor Stadium because you could just get into games with a student ID. He moved to Chicago to attend law school and began going to games with friends in the early days of Michael Jordan, before the Bulls became the biggest thing in basketball. Now Silver is following one of sports greatest commissioners. He acknowledges there will be times it will feel "lonely" without Stern there to face big decisions together, but Silver has worked so closely with Stern and been involved in so many aspects of the league that the transition should be a natural one. "Adam has been preparing for the job for a long time, he understands the business and I dont see him having much difficulty shifting into the role of commissioner," former NBA Players Association executive director Billy Hunter said. But Silver, designated as Sterns successor in October 2012, knows that doesnt mean it will always be easy. "I didnt have the same appreciation for what he was going through on a daily basis as the commissioner until I really thought about, What if that were I and I had to make that decision?" Silver said. "And its very different being sort of the voice in the ear of the guy making the decision as opposed to the guy making the decision." Nonetheless, he believes the league is in a good place and ready to grow. He met with executives from Facebook and Twitter while visiting Sacramento and Golden State during his first week as commissioner, seeking ways to bring the NBA to a larger audience than ever. "To me," Silver said, "the game is fantastic. The challenge is to use these new technologies and platforms to help more fans discover the game." Dean Lowry Super Bowl Jersey . - Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte sees the commitment to the handoff and cant help but come away impressed. Raven Greene Super Bowl Jersey . -- Patrick Kueng of Switzerland was nearly flawless as he captured his first World Cup and halted Aksel Lund Svindals streak of four straight super-G victories on Saturday.Leon Draisaitl and Darnell Nurse have made the Edmonton Oilers, at least for now. The two highly-touted prospects will break camp with the Oilers and are likely to play in at least nine games. At that point Edmonton must decide whether to send them down to their respective junior teams or keep them, at which point their rookie contracts would kick in. Draisaitl was drafted third-overall in this years entry draft while Nurse was selectedd seventh-overall a year ago. JK Scott Super Bowl Jersey. . In other Oilers roster news, Brad Hunt also made the final roster in a surprise move ahead of Martin Marincin. Marincin, along with Jujhar Khaira, and Bogdan Yakimov were assigned to the teams AHL affiliate in Oklahoma City while Keith Aulie, Anton Lander, Steve Pinizzotto, and Tyler Pitlick were placed on waivers. Kevin Westgarth was released from his professional tryout. ' ' '
The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Ryan Olsen to a three-year entry level contract worth $726,700 per season. Ray Nitschke Jersey .  The 19-year-old Olsen played 34 games with the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL this season. In that time, hes recorded 17 goals and 17 assists with 36 penalty minutes. The Delta, BC native has played in 238 career WHL games, between Saskatoon and Kelowna, for 71 goals and 65 assists and 228 career penalty minutes. Olsen was originally drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the sixth round, 160th overall, in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Dave Robinson Jersey . Hes still nowhere close to throwing yet. The four-time MVP was in good spirits when he made his first public appearance on the field since having neck surgery Sept. Kevin King Jersey . - Tiger Woods only made it through 10 holes Thursday — this time because of the weather, not his back.Derek Fisher was never the best player, certainly not the tallest or quickest. But whether on the court with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille ONeal, or across the bargaining table from David Stern and Adam Silver, he never feared taking the shot, speaking his mind, or doing whatever else was expected of a leader. So he has every attribute the New York Knicks need -- except experience as a coach, the job they hired him to do. "But I am experienced," Fisher said Tuesday. "Basketball is a game that I am experienced in playing, understanding, leading in, guiding in, helping another group of people achieve the greatest gift in the world as a professional athlete, and thats being a champion. That I have experience in, and thats the experience that I plan on sharing with these players, sharing with this organization." Thats what made Phil Jackson turn to one of his most trustworthy former players for his first coaching hire. Just days after finishing his 18th season, the 39-year-old Fisher was tabbed to replace Mike Woodson, whom Jackson fired in his first major move as team president. Fisher won five championships playing for Jackson with the Los Angeles Lakers and was known for his knack for hitting clutch post-season shots while playing an NBA-record 259 playoff games. But some of his most important work came in the locker room, just as it will now. "He made some incredible shots in the playoffs, always stepped into the vacuum of leadership, but more than anything else it was the ability of Derek to speak the truth from what the sense of the group was," Jackson said during a press conference at the Knicks training centre in Greenburgh, New York. The Knicks went 37-45 and missed the playoffs, just a year after winning the Atlantic Division and advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals. Jackson, who declined an original offer to coach the team, was instead hired to run the front office in March and fired Woodson the week after the season ended. He was seeking someone familiar with the triangle offence and someone with little or no coaching experience that he could teach. The Knicks had nearly closed a deal to hire Steve Kerr, who insteaad left the TNT broadcast table to take the Golden State Warriors coaching job. Bart Starr Jersey. . Jackson then turned his attention to Fisher, even getting fined $25,000 last week when he was too open about his interest in the point guard who was still under contract with the Thunder. Terms of Fishers deal were not released, but a person with knowledge of the details said it was worth $25 million over five years -- the same length of Jacksons contract and about the same deal Kerr signed with the Warriors. Fisher won three straight titles from 2000-02 on the Lakers teams led by ONeal and Bryant, and helped them win again in 2009 and 10. He is respected among players around the league and was the president of the Players Association during the 2011 lockout. The 6-foot-1 Fisher was still a key contributor for the Thunder this season, helping them reach the Western Conference finals. Fisher, who is tied for third on the career list for 3-pointers in the NBA Finals, said thinking like a coach helped him play so long despite never being the most athletic or talented player. And now, like Jason Kidd in Brooklyn, he is prepared to make the leap right from the court to the bench without any coaching experience on any level. They Knicks won titles in 1970 and 1973, when Jackson was a player in the organization, but have had little post-season success in this century. Fisher, dressed sharply in a brown suit and purple shirt, believes he and Jackson can bring winning back to New York. "We know without a doubt that we can re-establish what that means, what that is," Fisher said. Fisher said he likes the triangle but would run what was best for the team. Jackson said he would always be available to help. The Knicks hope the duo can reach a group that admittedly tuned Woodson out at times. And perhaps can help persuade Carmelo Anthony, who can become a free agent in July, to remain in New York. Fisher, a former first-round pick from Arkansas Little-Rock, will certainly give New York a credibility that only champions can bring. "Thats why Im here," Fisher said. "Thats why I took advantage of this opportunity, to be a part of that process." ' ' '
TORONTO -- LeBron James going home to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers led to speculation about whether a star NHL player might do the same in the near future. Oren Burks Super Bowl Jersey . Naturally, Steven Stamkos was at the centre of that speculation. The Tampa Bay Lightning captain and Markham, Ont., native could be an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2016, and the allure of playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs could be there. "Well see what happens. Its a couple years away," Stamkos said Wednesday. "Right now Im focused on what I have to do to win in Tampa, and I think weve really established ourselves as a team that can compete in upcoming years. "For me, thats the important thing is getting a chance to win. It looks like were going to have that chance for a couple years." At the age of 24, Stamkos is one of the most marketable stars in the NHL. He has topped 50 goals in a season twice already and only missed out on representing Canada at the Sochi Olympics because of a broken leg. Stamkos made a run with the Lightning to the Eastern Conference final in 2011, and Tampa Bay was swept by the Montreal Canadiens in this years playoffs. The Stanley Cup is his priority now, something he can legitimately think about with general manager Steve Yzerman piecing together one of the best young teams in the league. "We have a good thing going down in Tampa," Stamkos said at a Coca-Cola ball-hockey promotional event. "We have a great owner, we got a great GM in Steve Yzerman and we got a good young team. I want to win, and hopefully I can do it in Tampa." Stamkos said with the additions of centre Brian Boyle and defenceman Anton Stralman and the re-signing of winger Ryan Callahan, the Lightning are probably better on paper than they were at the end of last season. "We didnt have the finish we wanted to last year, but with the new faces coming in, the expectations are probably set a little higher," he said. Stamkos said chatter about joining the Leafs in two years was "absolutely not" a distraction for him in Tampa, where hell begin his first full season as captain this fall. "I try not to focus about that stuff," he said. "I think thats the great thing about playing in Tampa is hockey isnt the mecca that it is here in Toronto and you can kind of go about your life and kind of get away from the game when you need to." That said, Stamkos added that he loves playing in good hockey markets, including Toronto. "Im from around here and grew up cheering for the Leafs, so any time I get a chance to come back here I enjoy it, and any time I get a chance to play against the Leafs its fun," he said. "Its also fun beating them, too, because a lot of my friends are still Leaf fans." Stamkos is set to make US$13.5 million over the next two seasons. What could be in his not-too-distant future is a contract like the ones Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane signed with the Chicago Blackhawks: $84 million over eight years. "The business part of the game, its growing," Stamkos said. "Obviously the games in good shape, and when that happens the caps going to grow and players are going to get paid more money. Those guys deserve it: Theyre great players in this league, theyve won championships. "Thats the goal for me is to win a championship. You let your play take care of itself on the ice and when its time to re-sign or sign a contract, you back it up with your play." When James left the Miami Heat for the Cavaliers earlier this month, the chance to return to his native Ohio was cited as a prominent reason. James won two NBA titles during his time with the Heat. "He won his championships, he said he always wanted to come home and play, thats where it started," Stamkos said. "Good for him for making that decision." Bart Starr Super Bowl Jersey . General Manager Sam Presti said the three-time All-Star had knee swelling that would not subside, and the procedure was intended to solve the problem. He said doctors determined that a loose stitch was to blame for the swelling, that Westbrooks lateral meniscus has healed properly and the procedure was successful. Billy Turner Super Bowl Jersey .Those stars, most notably the top line of James van Riemsdyk, Tyler Bozak and Phil Kessel, struggled against the Montreal Canadiens and must be better as the Leafs look ahead to facing the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers this weekend. NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Fred Couples won the Toshiba Classic on Sunday for his 10th Champions Tour title, birdieing the final two holes for a one-stroke victory. The 54-year-old Couples shot a 5-under 66 to finish at 15-under 198 at Newport Beach Country Club. Also the 2010 winner, he made a 4-foot birdie putt on the par-3 17th and holed another 4-footer on the par-5 18th. "I worked pretty hard but I drove it all over the lot," Couples said. "I made some putts and when you do, you have a chance." Couples had to scramble on the final hole to take the outright lead. After hitting his approach over the green, he hit a flop shot to set up the birdie putt. "I hit a 6-iron and it was way too much club," Couples said. "To get up-and-down from there for me was kind of miraculous." Colin Montgomerie, Bernhard Langer and Steve Pate tied for second. Langer had a chance to force a playoff, but missed a 20-foot birdie try on 18 and settled for a 70. "I knew where I stood," Langer said. Rashan Gary Super Bowl Jersey. "I asked someone and they told me Freddy birdied. I just hit a bad shot." Montgomerie had a 62, the best round of the week, and Pate shot a 66. Couples became the second two-time winner in tournament history. Hale Irwin won in 1998 and 2002. "It was a great day," Couples said. "I was a little salty out there at times. I assumed someone would get to 16 under. Im just happy I made some birdies." Langers approach on No. 18 ended up left of the green up against a hospitality tent. After a drop, he chipped 20 feet past the hole and his birdie putt missed on the left side. "I pull-hooked it and when you are left, especially short and left you have no chance," Langer said. "I hit a good putt, but it didnt go in." Mark OMeara, Michael Allen, Kenny Perry, Jeff Hart and Scott Dunlap tied for fifth at 13 under. OMeara closed with a 64, Allen had a 67, Hart and Dunlap shot 68, and Perry had a 69. ' ' '
There may be some cause for concern in Winnipeg. Jordy Nelson Jersey . Quarterback Drew Willy appeared to injure his throwing hand on the third last play of practice Thursday. Willy hit his hand on a helmet and immediately dropped. He was attended to before leaving the field. Willy wasnt made available to media after practice. In his first season as a starter, Willy has been outstanding for the Blue Bombers. Hes second in the league with 2,358 passing yards and has 10 touchdowns. Don Chandler Jersey . For one, he still gets to crank the intensity to the max. "I push pretty angry. I ran pretty angry too though, but I have fun doing it," Lumsden said. Kadar Hollman Jersey . Durant had 33 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, hit the tying 3-pointer late in regulation and made the go-ahead foul shots in overtime to lift the Thunder past the Wizards 106-105. John Wall missed a driving layup attempt at the buzzer for Washington, which was seeking its third straight win.SEATTLE -- Chris Wondolowski tapped in a point-blank shot midway through the 66th minute on Wednesday night as the San Jose Earthquakes came back from the worst lost in franchise history to pull out a 1-1 draw against the Seattle Sounders. The Earthquakes (6-9-7) were coming off a 5-0 loss at home last Saturday to FC Dallas. Even with the draw, the Sounders (13-7-3) climbed back into a tie for both the Western Conference and overall top spot in MLS. Seattle, West co-leader Real Salt Lake and East leader Sporting Kansas City all have 42 points. Chad Barrett scored for Seeattle just 36 seconds into the second half. Herb Adderley Jersey. He caught up with a long through ball from Obafemi Martins, got behind three defenders, and drilled a shot from the top left side of the penalty area into the far corner for his sixth of the year. Halftime substitution Cordell Cato started San Joses scoring play when he took the ball down the left wing nearly to the goal line. He sent it across the goalmouth to the far post, and Wondolowski redirected it into a wide-open net for his ninth goal of the season and seventh all-time against the Sounders. ' ' '
HOUSTON -- Xavier Sua-Filo had a two-year layoff between his first season of football at UCLA and his final two years, thanks to a Mormon mission. Deebo Samuel Super Bowl Jersey . The guard, taken by the Texans with the first pick in the second round on Friday night, believes the time off helped him improve as a player and a person. "Obviously I was away from the game for two years, but I think it helped me be physically more mature and mentally more mature and helped me just become a better football player," he said. "When I came back I was an older guy. I was more suited to be a leader at UCLA. I look at it all positive." Despite a need at quarterback, the Texans went with another position again after selecting defensive end Jadeveon Clowney with the No. 1 overall pick on Thursday night. They continued that trend in the third when they took Iowa tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz with the 65th pick. Houston traded the first pick in the fourth round (101st overall) and the first pick in the fifth round (141) to the Eagles to move up and select Notre Dame nose tackle Louis Nix at No. 83. Despite their need at quarterback, the Texans have also drafted defensive end Jadeveon Clowney with the No. 1 overall pick and guard Xavier Sua-Filo in the second round and picked up tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz with the 65th overall pick. Nix started eight games in 2013 and finished with 27 tackles and two tackles for losses. Houston general manager Rick Smith said Friday night that he still believes there are some good quarterbacks left in the draft. "Weve done a lot of work on quarterbacks throughout the process because it is a position -- wed like to be able to draft quarterbacks and develop young quarterbacks and thats certainly something that we want to do," Smith said. "But we will always do that with corresponding value. So if theres an opportunity for us to do that (Saturday), we certainly will entertain that." In 2009, Sua-Filo became the first true freshman in UCLA history to start 13 games before leaving for his mission in Alabama and Florida. He picked up right where he left off in 2012 when he started 14 games at left guard for an offence that averaged 466.5 yards a game. He split time between left guard and left tackle last season and won the Morris Trophy as the Pac 12s top offensive lineman. Sua-Filo isnt sure how the Texans will use him, but hes looking forward to showcasing his versatility in Houston. "I can play either," he said. "I just want to get in there and I want to compete and contribute and help the team as best as I can." Fiedorowicz had 30 receptions for 299 yards and six touchdowns last season. Houston re-signed tight end Garrett Graham this off-season, but lost tight end Owen Daniels in free agency. The 6-5, 265-pound Fiedorowicz said he has always looked up to New England tight end Rob Gronkowski and that despite his own skill as a blocker he wants to prove he can be a well-rounded tight end. "I feel like Im going to really prove to everybody that Im a dual-threat," he said. "Im going to catch the ball, Im going to block on the edge and do everything (OBrien) asks." Sua-Filo has fashioned his game after veteran New England Patriots guard Logan Mankins and raved about his skills. "I love the way he plays," Sua-Filo said. "I think hes physical. I think hes nasty. You know, I try to implement as much from his game that I can." The 6-foot-4, 307-pound Sua-Filo, perhaps unsurprisingly, is looking forward to the culinary delights in Houston. "The whole state of Texas is pretty great, but Im looking forward to eating at Pappadeaux and Whataburger," he said of the Houston-based Cajun restaurant and the burger-chain, which started in Corpus Christi, Texas. Nix started eight games in 2013 and finished with 27 tackles and two tackles for losses. He cant wait to join a defensive line with 2012 Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt and Clowney. "I never thought ever in life that would happen," Nix said. "Im super excited." Roger Craig Super Bowl Jersey . Spieth again showed game well beyond his 20 years with a 9-under 63 on the North Course, giving him a one-shot lead over Stewart Cink going into the weekend at the Farmers Insurance Open. George Kittle Super Bowl Jersey . And follow TSN.ca right through Deadline Day for all the updates. Getting Creative The Pittsburgh Penguins will try their best to acquire Ryan Kesler from the Vancouver Canucks before the Trade Deadline.(SportsNetwork.com) - The Ottawa Senators are 7-1-3 over their last 11 games, but the club enters Saturdays road tilt with the Carolina Hurricanes having lost three of its past four tilts. After opening a four-game road trip with a 2-0 win in Washington on Monday, the Senators dropped a 4-3 shootout decision Thursday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Ottawa was able to salvage a point thanks to Chris Neils game- tying goal with 2:18 remaining in the third period. Clarke MacArthur and Erik Karlsson both posted a goal and an assist for the Sens, while Craig Anderson made 35 stops in a losing effort. Ex-Ottawa goaltender Ben Bishop stopped 33-of-36 shots to earn the win for the Lightning. "We competed all night and I think we did the things we needed to do to be in this game," said Anderson. "We got a point, so there is that." Ottawa, which will complete its trip Tuesday at Columbus, is 11-8-5 as the road team this season. Snowy weather may have shuffled the Hurricanes schedule around this week, but it hasnt hurt their play on the ice. Todays game was originally scheduled for Friday, but was pushed back a day to accommodate the Hurricanes. Carolina was originally slated to play Tuesday in Philadelphia, but that tilt was postponed until the following day due to weather. The Canes then visited Buffalo on Thursday and had Fridays test moved back because they couldnt play on three consecutive days. Saturdays game is an important one in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Senators are currently two points outt of the Easts last postseason berth and Carolina is just one point behind Ottawa. Weston Richburg Super Bowl Jersey. The Hurricanes recorded a 4-1 win over a visiting Senators club on Nov. 24, giving Carolina wins in five of the last six meetings. Ottawa has dropped three straight and 10 of the past 11 encounters in Raleigh. Carolina notched a 3-2 win in Philly and followed with a 5-3 decision against the Sabres. The Hurricanes hope to keep heading in the right direction on Saturday, when they play the first of two straight on home ice. Carolina is 11-10-5 as the host this season and will play six of seven tests in Raleigh before the NHL breaks for the Winter Olympics early next month. The Hurricanes and Sabres were tied at 2-2 after 40 minutes on Thursday and Buffalo grabbed a one-goal lead just 48 seconds into the third period. However, Alexander Semin and Andrej Sekera scored 2:25 apart for Carolina near the midway point of the third to give Carolina the lead for good. Jiri Tlusty, who scored the game-winner with 6:10 left in the third period on Wednesday, added an empty-net goal in the final seconds to seal the win in Buffalo. "Were starting to really gel together right now," said Carolina head coach Kirk Muller. "Were getting the goaltending, our big guys are starting to score and our other guys are playing their roles. You put it together, youre getting some good results." Semin finished with two goals, Sekera added two assists and Anton Khudobin made 26 saves for a Hurricanes team that won for the third time in four games. ' ' '
The Vancouver Whitecaps continued to struggle in front of goal on Saturday, as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home against DC United. Dennis McKinnon Jersey Store . It was the fourth consecutive game in which the Whitecaps have failed to find the back of the net. THE FORMATIONS In an effort to boost his teams attack, Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson opted for a 4-4-2 formation with a diamond midfield. Sebastian Fernandez moved up front to partner Darren Mattocks, while Ethen Sampson made his debut at right-back in place of the injured Steven Beitashour. DC United made one change to the 4-4-1-1 formation they employed to beat the New York Red Bulls 2-0 last week. David Estrada came in on the left of midfield for the injured Chris Rolfe. THE GAME The words of my former manager at Ipswich, Joe Royle, rang true on Saturday night at BC Place. He once told me, “A team is only ever as good as its strikers.” Little did he know, he could have been speaking about the 2014 version of the Vancouver Whitecaps. If Vancouver misses out on the playoffs this year, it will be because they have failed to address their greatest need – they do not have a reliable goal scorer in their squad. Camilo scored 22 goals for the Whitecaps last season before leaving for Mexican side Queretaro in the offseason. He felt underappreciated (and underpaid) by the Whitecaps and, regardless of what one thinks about how he engineered his move out of Vancouver, it is a black mark on the clubs front office that they allowed their star player to become so disenfranchised. Vancouver is paying for that mistake right now. The team is creating plenty of chances for its front men to convert, they just lack a goal scorer to finish them. Darren Mattocks had a number of chances - including the best of the game in the first half - but failed to put the ball in the back of the net. One shudders to think where the Whitecaps would be right now if they had Camilo leading the line rather than Mattocks or Erik Hurtado, the only Whitecaps strikers to find the back of the net with any regularity this season. Mattocks and Hurtado have each played in 22 games this season, but have only managed to score six and four goals respectively. The opening half saw a concerted effort from the Whitecaps to play a high-tempo game. The front five – including Russell Teibert and Mauro Rosales flanking Pedro Morales in midfield – were quick in transition and relentless in their pressure on the DC United back line. But for all their territorial possession and pressure, the Whitecaps were toothless where it mattered most, in front of goal. Kendall Waston should have scored after he got on the end of a Morales free kick in the first half, but Wastons header glanced wide of the post. Likewise, Jordan Harvey had a header in the second half fly past the near post after good work down the left side from the Whitecaps. The visitors made life difficult for Vancouver and, while it wasnt DCs most attractive performance of the season, they did what they had to do to pick up another point on their march to the playoffs. It has been a remarkable turnaround for head coach Ben Olsens side, as they have already picked up 31 more points than they did in all of last season. Olsens primary front men – Fabian Espindola, Luis Silva and Eddie Johnson – have scored 22 goals among them, which is quite a contrast to the production from the Whitecaps strikers. THE GOOD The Whitecaps kept another clean sheet, their eighth of the season. The back four looked in control for most of the game and Ethen Sampson did some excellent one-on-one defending before being replaced in the second half with cramp. Teibert, Morales and Rosales dictated the tempo of the game in the first half before fading in the second. This can be put down, in part, to DCs approach to the second half. The visitors were happy to slow the game down at every opportunity, as they knew that it would only take one chance for their front men, Espindola and Silva, to win them the game. Fortunately for Vancouver, DC were restricted to speculative efforts from distance. THE BAD There is a simple explanation for Vancouvers inability to score in the last four games: their strikers are not good enough. Mattocks and Hurtado are not the answer if the club is going to compete for a playoff place in the Western Conference on a yearly basis. They are too inconsistent and fail to do too much of the work that is required from the strikers in Carl Robinsons team. Vancouver must address this shortcoming in the transfer window at the end of the season. If they dont, Whitecaps fans will be biting their fingernails every year when it comes down to the playoff race. THE STAR MAN Kendall Waston was excellent for Vancouver. He won every challenge he made, both in the air and on the ground. He was tidy in possession of the ball, and nearly scored for the Whitecaps in the first half. More performances like this one from the Costa Rican, and Whitecaps fans can expect more clean sheets to come. Bobo Wilson Jersey Store . The (14-15-5) Jets are seventh in the Central Division with 33 points.  They trail sixth place Nashville and fifth place Dallas by two points. Bill Baumgartner Jersey Store .C. United on Saturday night and boost the Unions playoff hopes. Nick DeLeon scored in the 36th minute for United (3-23-6), which had ample opportunities to build on its lead but went its 10th straight match without a victory.Captain John Muldoon says his Connacht side have out-grown old inferiority complexes ahead of their top of the table clash with Leinster on Saturday, live on Sky Sports 1 HD. Speaking to Sky Sports, Muldoon also stated that Connacht will continue with the game plan that has propelled them to the top of the PRO12, drawing comparisons with Leicester City in the Premiership. It is a bit nosebleed territory, he said. Top of the table clash against Leinster coming up - its certainly something that we are not used to but it is something that players, management and above all else, our supporters - they are in dreamland at the moment. I think in the last four or five years that [inferiority complex] has dwindled away and as its dwindled away weve progressively got better. We might not have the budget that some of the rest of them have but I think thats forced us to be more creative. Connacht captain John Muldoon in action against Cardiff Blues For us to change what we have been doing over the last couple of weeks, it would be very remiss of us to do pull back - were scoring tries; were bloody conceding them as well but thats the way we are doing it and why would we change? The long-serving back-row has endured some tough days playing for the province and admits that more than once he questioned his decision to remain at the club.Id be lying if I said I didnt think about going away, and Id be lying if I came in once or twice after a loss and said right thats me done. Lew Reeve Jersey Store. he said. Absolutely, theres times when I was just in a very low place but ultimately you get dragged back in by that sense of community; by that sense of where you are from and who you are from. Connachts unity and cohesion has helped carry them to the top of the PRO12 And while he admits that theres been an edge to recent training sessions, he joked that he wasnt at the centre of it.Its does get feisty. Thankfully I havent been involved in any of those fights recently. Im probably getting older and a little bit wiser now.Speaking about the development of his leadership role, Muldoon said:I suppose not everyone is going to like you and Ive probably burnt bridges with some fellas here over the years but at the end of the day, you got to do that if you want to get it.I know if you speak to any player or any club, theyve got exactly the same thing and captains will tell you exactly the same thing.
